lament with me.
I now have braces.  Oh my.  I wanted straight teeth, not braces!  Apparently, I need them in order to stop my teeth from cracking and splitting.  They are out of alignment and causing bigger problems.  So, now we go with braces for ~12 months.   I haven't eaten yet, and I'm getting dehydrated.... and a little nervous as the pain hasn't set in yet (it's only been 3 hours).

ok, now I've eaten and what a freakin' nightmare!  And now they really really hurt!  ouch ouch ouch.  I've taken the maximum aspirin allowed for a day.  Hot drinks and sunshine are the only things that ease my pain!
Frickin frackin braces!

I would always eat my favorite food right before getting my braces tightened. Best food afterwards? Baked potato, but the trick is to roll it before cutting skin so it completely breaks it up. Butter, sour cream, cheese chives...yum!!

Agreed, a soft baked potato makes a good lunch... and possibly dinner! pureed homemade mushroom soup is also yum. It beats having to chew! ;)

Oh, man, I remember having those.

If it's any condolence, the pain always went away within a day or two after them going on or being adjusted. Thank god.

yes. It's STARTING to ease up after 48 hours of severe aching. A friend just turned me onto Clove Oil, which is helping brilliantly. That and aspirin. I suspect it's just the initial shock of having braces on them that it making them hurt so much. Let's hope it's not this bad each time they adjust them! eek.

be thankful you only need them for 12 months. :) I suffered through them for a lot longer than that.
